•Solar pioneer over 30 years, before solar was cool
•Recognized expert in the solar power generation field
•In the Guinness Book of World Records setting the first speed record for a solar car
•Inventor of a solar roof for the Toyota Prius
Greg Johanson is a pioneer in solar energy system design and application. He designed and installed off-grid photo-voltaic (PV) systems in the U.S. and Mexico in the early 1980s. Greg also designed the world's first solar vehicle in 1984 which established a new Guinness World Records category. His Sunrunner vehicle set the first speed record for a car powered by solar energy without batteries. Greg’s interest in PV and vehicles inspired him to design and patent the first solar powered system for the Toyota Prius Hybrid to improve its electric mode operation.

Greg participated in the development of the California Net Metering Law crediting consumers for generating power and the first solar rebate program for grid-connected PV systems. He has delivered PV systems for major utilities including the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Southern California Edison (SCE), Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) and Burbank Water & Power. Greg’s company is the largest, most experienced and innovative full-service photovoltaic specialist in Southern California, installing over 1000 residential and over 250 commercial and municipality systems.
